Hong Kong ushered in a sunny weekend. Rainbows appeared in the sky for three days in a row. The "hot burst" continued in many districts. At 1pm, the temperature rose to 37.1 degrees Celsius in Dameito, and the Observatory Headquarters recorded 35.8 degrees, the hottest record this year. The record for the highest temperature in May since Hong Kong has been recorded has been broken.

The Observatory predicts that the extremely hot weather will continue until Wednesday (26th). A total lunar eclipse will be staged over Hong Kong on that night. In addition, a "super moon" will appear on the day when the moon is closer to the earth, and a double astronomical phenomenon will form a "super blood moon". It is expected that the weather on that day is expected to see this astronomical wonder.

The active southerly air current will bring unstable weather. The Observatory expects thunderstorms in some areas for four consecutive days starting from Friday (28th), cloudy with showers, and rainy days will continue until the beginning of next month.

The Observatory had captured the rainbow through a camera on Lamma Island last Friday (21st), and the rainbow lasted for about 20 minutes on that day; and yesterday and today, there were residents in Tseung Kwan O, Sai Wan Ho, Yuen Long and Ma Wan respectively. Discover the rainbow.

The observatory once explained that the formation of rainbow is due to the fact that sunlight is composed of light of different wavelengths (that is, different colors). When there are water droplets in the atmosphere, such as rain, the sun’s rays will be refracted by the water droplets (that is, the direction of travel is changed). If the wavelength is shorter, the amplitude of its refraction will be greater than that of longer wavelength light such as red light.

Therefore, the blue (red) light will be on the inner (outer) side of the rainbow.

When sunlight passes through the water droplets, it will be refracted, reflected and then refracted. The light reflected once in the water droplets forms a common rainbow.

At 1 pm, the temperature of the Observatory Headquarters rose to 35.8 degrees.

The Observatory recorded 35.8 degrees, breaking this year's high temperature record

The high-altitude anticyclone continues to bring generally fine weather to the south China coast and the northern part of the South China Sea. The very hot weather warning is now in effect.

At 1 o'clock in the afternoon, it was hot in many districts. Among them, the Observatory Headquarters recorded 35.8 degrees, the highest temperature this year. It also broke the record of the highest temperature in May since Hong Kong’s record, which was 35.5 degrees on May 31, 1963.

Tai Mei Tuk also rose to 37.1 degrees, and Yuen Long Park and Waglan Island also exceeded 36 degrees.

A trough of low pressure will approach Guangdong later tomorrow. The Observatory predicts that Hong Kong will continue to be extremely hot until Wednesday (26th), with a maximum temperature of 33 degrees in the urban area and a few showers at the same time.

On Wednesday, when there will be a total lunar eclipse in the port of Japan, the "Super Full Moon" will be shown in the same scene. The observatory is expected to be generally fine on that day, but there will be showers in some areas. There is a chance to watch this rare astronomical phenomenon.

Welcome thunderstorms for four consecutive days starting from Friday

The Observatory predicts that the active southerly air current will bring unstable weather to southern China in the middle and late part of this week. Hong Kong will be cloudy for four consecutive days with showers and thunderstorms in some areas from Friday (28th). The temperature in Hong Kong will drop slightly. 31 degrees high.

The Observatory also predicted that the sky was clear for part of the first day of June, with a few showers, and the urban temperature ranged from 29 to 32 degrees.
