The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, affirmed that Syria has been keen throughout the years of the crisis to ensure that the constitutional entitlements are on time, pointing out that the wide participation of Syrians residing abroad in the presidential elections that took place last Thursday confirms to the whole world that they are with their homeland and that they are more attached to it now.
Al-Miqdad explained in an interview with Al-Mayadin TV tonight that the enemies of Syria were betting on the commitment of the Syrian people to their homeland and not to hold the election, but the large influx of Syrians abroad to their country's embassies in various capitals proved that the Syrians are now more attached to their homeland and the goals that Syria has set for itself for years. Long, in particular the Palestinian issue and the issue of liberating the occupied Arab lands, stressing that the Syrians will prove, when going to polling stations in all governorates next Wednesday, their commitment to their homeland, reconstruction and fighting terrorism, and that they are with their army until the final victory is achieved.
Al-Miqdad condemned the assaults of Syrian voters in Lebanon, expressing hope that the Lebanese state would play its legal role with regard to the assault on them, pointing out that had it not been for the brutal attacks committed against them, the process of casting their votes would have continued for two, three and four days if the Supreme Judicial Committee permitted.
Al-Miqdad expressed Syria's welcome to all of its sons whom these aggressors prevented from exercising their right in Lebanon to go to their country, Syria, to exercise this right, pointing to the Syrian state’s keenness to deliver these people the message they carried in their hearts and minds to prove to the whole world that they are free and that they are right.
Al-Miqdad indicated that the enemies of Syria do not want the refugees to return because they want to continue investing in them, and they expected to invest in them in these elections against their country and to prevent them from participating and exercising their right in the elections, but all these demonic dreams have completely failed and now they in the West see their dreams shattered on a rock. Al-Miqdad explained that the targeting of Syria during the years of the terrorist war was due to its refusal to obey the American orders, the "Israeli will" and the minor rulers in some Western European countries, and these are the reasons that led to all the destruction and external support we saw for terrorist groups and the introduction of thousands of their members into Syrian lands with the aim of Destabilizing Syria and undermining its independent national decision.
Regarding the restoration of normal relations between Arab countries, Al-Miqdad said: Syria welcomes any initiative in this field and is with no effort exerted to achieve this. We must stand alongside each other and cooperate to the maximum within the framework of developing Arab-Arab relations .. There is a real will among the masses of the Arab people in All Arab countries will rally around Syria and the Palestinian cause in order to restore the minimum level of Arab solidarity. Joint Arab action cannot be complete and effective without the presence of Syria, and I assure you that most Arab countries support the presence of Syria in the Arab League.
On the decision of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons against Syria last month, Al-Miqdad explained that the United States exerted great pressure on the members of the organization, and yet only 87 out of 193 countries voted in favor of the decision, meaning less than half of the member states, pointing out that the prohibition organization is a technical organization that does not deal with matters. In it, by voting, like the United Nations General Assembly, but within the framework of consensuses between countries.
Al-Miqdad explained that the escalation in the ban organization took place at this time mainly with the aim of harming the presidential elections and to prevent any return by Arab countries to Syria and from Syria to its Arab surroundings, and to continue to support terrorist groups, as these are Western goals, whether they are French, German, American or British.
Al-Miqdad renewed Syria’s refusal and condemnation of the use of chemical weapons anywhere and anytime and said: We believe that the use of chemical weapons is prohibited anywhere, at any time and under any circumstances. If the international community should address the situation of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East region, it should go to the address. The real one is the Zionist racist entity that possesses all kinds of weapons of mass destruction.
In another context, Al-Miqdad stressed that Syria has always been with the Palestinian people and has supported its central cause for it, indicating that this people regained the initiative after all the dangerous developments that surrounded the Palestinian issue, as it seemed that some in the region believed that this issue had ended so that the world would be surprised by this great people and with this. Solidarity with its resistance to the Israeli occupation ... and what we have always talked about in Syria and the axis of resistance about the importance of the continuity of the resistance of the Palestinian people and everyone who supports this just cause is a very important matter. The Palestinian cause has regained its momentum, and the Palestinians must continue the struggle and resistance because the Israeli enemy only understands resistance.
