A train derailment on Sunday morning (May 23, 2021) resulted in high five-figure property damage.
As an emergency manager from Deutsche Bahn announced, the train was about to pull into the Markt Erlbach station (district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim) from a siding around 06:40 when the train derailed.
The railway is currently at right angles to the tracks and was badly damaged in the derailment.
Property damage is assumed to be around 80,000 euros.
A rescue train from Nuremberg is currently on its way to Markt Erlbach.
The cause of the accident is still completely unclear.
A crane has put the train back on the tracks, now the damage is being checked.
According to the railway, the accident happened during a shunting run.
The trains currently end in Wilhermsdorf.
The deployment will drag on for several hours.
Replacement bus service was set up between the two stations.
