The Forum of Families of those killed in the disaster on Mount Meron last night addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a demand to establish a state commission of inquiry.

This is in preparation for the vote that will take place today (Monday) in the Knesset's organizing committee to promote in an expedited procedure the bill of Yesh Atid, the purpose of which is to promote the establishment of the committee.

"We want to say out loud, clearly, unequivocally, and unequivocally, all families as one person, because we demand an independent state commission of inquiry," the families wrote to Netanyahu.

"A state commission of inquiry will complete the investigation, in full."

"Such a committee should understand the ultra-Orthodox way of life of the victims and include representatives from the bereaved families," they added.

"We are seeing the Meron disaster, today the civil Yom Kippur of our country. Our goal is for this committee to prevent the next disaster and at the same time summarize the law in the most correct way with all the factors."

The letter was also sent by the families following expected opposition from the ultra-Orthodox parties to the Yesh Atid bill, and in general to the establishment of a state commission of inquiry.

Last week, the chairman of Torah Judaism, MK Moshe Gafni, asked Netanyahu to vote in the government to establish a state commission of inquiry, but most members of his party and Shas oppose it. One of the alternative proposals is that of MK Yaakov Asher (Judaism Torah) which initiated a bill to establish a public inquiry committee headed by the Minister of the Interior in place of the Supreme Court judge.
