- The competition planning under the sign of Corona requires creative ideas and a certain flexibility. And so, last weekend, 21-year-old Hanna Frühauf from LG Würm Athletics went to Vienna to attend the Austrian state championships in order to meet the qualification standards for the German championships. An invitation from the Austrian Athletics Association made it possible. Because in this country, competitive sports are still only permitted for adult national team athletes. Or all athletes who still have a valid standard from the previous year. Bad luck for Hanna Frühauf, who just missed this norm last year after an injury year in 2019.

At first it looked like the Perchtinger could get a starting place in Bavaria. But the competitions were canceled in a row. In Baden-Württemberg, the 3000 meter obstacle runner was finally accepted for a race in Karlsruhe. But then came the emergency brake, and due to the Infection Protection Act, the organizer had to reduce the number of participants again. So the 21-year-old athlete from Perchting was again without a chance to compete, and it almost looked as if the efforts of the individual training in winter had been in vain. "The invitation to Vienna was literally the last minute rescue", sums up her exercise bike Torsten König. “And at the same time, of course, a Herculean task. Because to run a new best time and German norm at the same time in the first race, even abroad with a long journey, that could have gone wrong. "

The athletics department of TSV Gilching-Argelsried was generous, paid for the travel expenses, and the company was a complete success: With 11: 49.02 min, Frühauf was able to undercut her best time by almost 20 seconds and thus the ticket for the German championships in June in Koblenz solve. In addition, she is now back in Bavaria as a top athlete and is therefore just as entitled to a start permit as her younger club colleague Karin Dobiasch. The 800 meter specialist from Hechendorf still belongs to the U18 age group, and here - in contrast to the active players - there is still a Bavarian national squad. Now it's time to keep training and stay fit. mm
