The University UGC announced today the results of the "Research Review Work in 2020", covering approximately 16,000 research results from eight funded universities from 2013 to 2019.
The evaluation is divided into 13 groups, using a 5-level rating, four-star "world leading level", three-star "international excellence level", two-star "international level", one-star "limited level of originality, importance and rigor" And "not rated", commonly known as U-level.
Among the 13 research review groups, the University of Hong Kong and CUHK each received the most three-star and four-star ratings in the four groups. The results of this research review are jointly crowned, and the University of Science and Technology ranks third.

Comparing the research groups by disciplines, the University of Hong Kong has achieved up to four levels of "world-leading" research than the CUHK in terms of medical and legal research.
In terms of clinical medical research, 38% of medical research at HKU received four-star ratings and 38% received three-star ratings; while at CUHK, 28% of medical research received four-star ratings and 37% received three-star ratings.
