The United States issued its most serious travel warning on Monday in which it recommends
not traveling to Japan due to the rebound in coronavirus cases,
with the Tokyo Olympics two months away.
The level 4 advisory issued by the State Department further

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a level 4 travel health advisory for Japan due to COVID-19, indicating a very high level of the virus in the country. There are restrictions that affect the entry of US citizens to Japan, "says the notice.
Tokyo is in a state of emergency due to high levels of COVID-19 until May 31, but authorities expect this deadline to be extended, reports our sister network, NBC News New York.
Protests against Japan's decision to continue to host the games, which should start on July 23, are mounting as the date approaches, which had already been rescheduled in the summer of 2020.
