The Nyiragongo volcano eruption left at least 11 dead, more than 170 children missing and at least 150 children separated from their families. The United Nations children's aid agency said more than 5,000 people crossed the border into Rwanda escaping the fury of the volcano and at least 25,000 were displaced in Sake, 25 kilometers northwest of Goma. The government sent aid to the affected area, but UNICEF fears the spread of cholera as hundreds of people return to Goma, where they find their houses damaged and face a lack of water and electricity.
