Soaring carbon prices on the European market are worrying manufacturers.

The value of the kilowatt-hour (KWh) on the wholesale markets, on which part of the French suppliers are supplied, is closely correlated with that of the tonne of CO2 traded on the European market.
If the tonne of CO2 soars, the price per kilowatt hour on the wholesale markets immediately follows suit.
In recent weeks, contracts expiring in 2022 have exceeded 55 euros per megawatt hour (1,000 kWh), twice as much as in 2019.
