New leisure activities for district citizens: Effective immediately, the leisure bus line 6030 connects the two districts of Freising and Kelheim on weekends and public holidays.

From now on, the leisure bus route 6030 connects the two districts of Freising and Kelheim on weekends and public holidays.
District Administrator Helmut Petz and his colleague Martin Neumeyer from Kelheim accompanied the “maiden voyage”, which rolled into the Freising bus station for the first time on Saturday.
Easily accessible with a day ticket
With the “Roman and Hops Tour” from Kelheim to Freising, a great dream has come true for Martin Neumeyer. For a long time he has been trying to extend the leisure activities frequented in his district to Freising, reported the Kelheim district administrator. Cycling and hiking with the leisure bus has already been possible in the districts of Kelheim, Eichstätt and Regensburg. With the connection to Freising, the hops landscape of the Hallertau and the area around Munich will now also be opened up. There had already been negotiations with his predecessor Josef Hauner, said Freising's District Administrator Helmut Petz.
Weltenburg Abbey, Danube Gorge, the Liberation Hall or the Kuchlbauer Tower, the landmark of the brewery of the same name and "Beer World" in Abensberg: these are all sights that can be easily reached by those seeking relaxation until October 3rd with a day ticket. Everything at an “unbeatable price”, as Neumeyer emphasized. For an adult the trip including the bike costs 5.58 euros, a family with two adults and three children under 15 years pays 15 euros. The new line is operated by the Eastern Bavaria regional bus as part of a cooperation with the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). Nothing will change in the timetables of the MVV lines 602 and 603, which connect Freising with Mainburg, explained Petz. The costs of 27,000 euros for the Freising district for the new leisure offerwould be largely offset by a funding program from the Free State of Bavaria.
Cooperation designed as a pilot project
He appreciates “the unifying factor” in the new bus connection, enthused Petz.
The oldest breweries in the world have now moved very close together with Weltenburg and Weihenstephan.
The hops as a continuous band represent the Bavarian way of life.
The new bus connection is “absolutely sensible”, said the 2nd mayor of the city of Mainburg, Hannelore Langwieser.
This would open up the region around Munich and the Bavarian Oberland for the districts in the north of Freising.
“It couldn't be better,” said Neumeyer, assessing the stop of line 6030, right at the Freising train station.
The cooperation between the two districts is initially set up as a pilot project.
If the offer is accepted - and it is assumed - it will be extended accordingly.
The two district heads had agreed in advance to make an appreciative gesture to all helpers who helped overcome the Corona crisis.
Vouchers for the leisure bus will be distributed to this group of people.

The 2021 leisure bus season lasts until October 3rd.
Line 6030 runs from Freising via Mainburg, Ratzenhofen, Siegenburg, Abensberg, Neustadt an der Donau, Bad Gögging, Eining and Weltenburg to Kelheim.
