After completion in August, the sports facility should be the ultimate.

But the road to financial feasibility was long.

Ohlstadt

- The soccer field at Boschet is not necessarily known for its sunny location.

On the contrary.

Snow, wet, cold: all of this is a huge problem for the footballers of the Ohlstadt sports club.

Often times, due to the weather, the kickers had to move to the sports facilities in Murnau or Oberau in order to be able to train in spring or late autumn.

That is why SV chairman Martin Gratz and his football department have long dreamed of an artificial turf pitch.

Now the dream has become a reality: The groundbreaking ceremony recently took place and the players should be allowed to inaugurate the lawn in August.

We are on the verge of the ultimate

Florian Müller, head of the soccer department at SV Ohlstadt

There have been many mosaic stones.

Gratz stands in front of you.

The club house, painted white and blue, inaugurated in 2014. The existing soccer field, on which the young people and adults play, is not yet old, as is the area used by the stick shooters and their club house.

Now the area is being supplemented by the artificial turf pitch.

"We are on the verge of the ultimate," says Florian Müller, head of the football department proudly.

New artificial turf pitch costs 420,000 euros - but there are tons of subsidies

It measures 45 by 58 meters, so it is perfect for games up to D-youth, for small field tournaments and for training. It is created where there used to be a sand court above the large soccer field. It costs 420,000 euros. Money that SV Ohlstadt as a club naturally does not raise on its own. That was also the big concern in 2019, when Gratz brought the topic to the table for the first time. “How can we afford that?” Was the question in the committee when the first offer for an artificial turf pitch for 270,000 euros was presented. The topic was almost forgotten again when on June 11, 2019 a message from the government made the sports club shine with happiness: A state funding program subsidizes the construction and renovation of sports facilities of the clubs. The less financially strong municipality of Ohlstadt even complied with the sports funding guidelines to such an extent that the SV can now look forward to a 55 percent grant and 20 percent loan. "Then there was no stopping us," says Gratz with a laugh. It got even better: after an application to the municipality in January and a further application to the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) in June 2020, the club was even able to obtain further financial injections. The community donates at least 80,000 euros and takes over the interim financing of the volunteers, as the local council approved in this year's budget. After an application to the municipality in January and a further application to the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) in June 2020, the club was even able to obtain further financial injections. Penzberg is the model for Ohlstadt

So SV Ohlstadt started looking for the right place.

Due to the corona, he called an artificial turf committee, consisting of Gratz himself, his vice Anton Fischer Junior, Florian Müller and the former board member Manfred Lanz.

There were two role models in the room: the new artificial turf pitches in Grainau (filled with sand) and Penzberg (unfilled).

The committee unanimously decided in favor of the latter.

The tenders then had to be public and nationwide in order to maintain the funding.

The firm Tiefbau Schulz was awarded the contract, the engineering office G. Kuba takes over the planning.

The Swiss company XL Turf supplies the artificial turf.

There are no more nature conservation concerns.

Because the subsidies only flow if the lawn - as is now planned unfilled in Ohlstadt - does not contain any harmful granules.

The funding is also sorely needed, because after all, a lot of time has passed since 2019 and the construction costs for the square are now 420,000 euros.

An irrigation system is necessary.

The floodlights also need to be replaced.

The old mercury lamps are disappearing and are being fitted with modern LED lights.

Ultimately, SV Ohlstadt only has to shell out 10 percent of the costs, around 42,000 euros.
