The elected LR announced this Tuesday in a press release that he will "send the prefect of Essonne a letter of resignation from my duties as mayor of Draveil, vice-president of the Val-d'Yerres agglomeration community / Val de Seine and president of the Ile de Loisirs de Draveil.
After weeks of controversy, Georges Tron finally decided to resign from his mandates.
Since last February, the elected LR, former Secretary of State, has been imprisoned in the prison of Health.
He was sentenced on appeal by the Paris Assize Court to five years in prison, three of which were closed for rape and sexual assault in a meeting on a former collaborator, after being acquitted at first instance.
He appealed in cassation, which allows him to benefit again from the presumption of innocence, while remaining behind bars.

"My conviction is not final, I am always presumed innocent," writes Georges Tron. In this context, and despite the difficulty and the harshness of this situation for my relatives and myself, I, in full agreement with my municipal team, have continued to exercise my functions as mayor of Draveil for the past three months. With the clear support of the vast majority of Draveillois, which no one disputes, I was in daily contact with my municipal team and my collaborators and I carried out all the tasks relating to my mandates. But a debate opens today on the material capacity which I would have to carry out my functions. I do not have the means to participate. "
The elected representative is surely referring to the fact that the government has indicated "to work on the conditions of a possible dismissal of Georges Tron".
Revocation which was demanded by feminist associations and activists who have organized, for three months, many demonstrations.
