Former Secretary of State Georges Tron, imprisoned since his conviction on appeal for rape and sexual assault in February, has resigned from his mandate as mayor of Draveil (Essonne), First Deputy Richard Privat told AFP.

LR mayor for 25 years of this city where he was re-elected by more than 64% in the municipal elections in 2020, the former Secretary of State (2010-2011) led Draveil, despite his conviction, provoking the anger of elected officials opposition and feminist associations.
