After breaking the silence after the scandal over the VIP vaccination against the coronavirus and having assured that he did not immunize "anyone for being a friend", the former Minister of Health, Ginés González García gave more details of the case that triggered the controversy.

It is about the vaccination of the journalist Horacio Verbitsky, who was the one who told in a radio interview that he had called his "friend Ginés" and had asked him to be vaccinated.

González García once again defended his actions from the health portfolio and said that Verbitsky called him and told him that he was

"very scared"

because a relative had died from the virus.

"He told me

'a relative of mine has died, I'm very scared'

, but I told him well, wait, but that was a month before (he was vaccinated)," explained González García in an extensive interview on

Moments later, he insisted that he was wrong when he agreed to be vaccinated at the Ministry of Health: "It was an

accident

that I went there," he said.

Explaining how Verbitsky got to be vaccinated at the health ministry headquarters, he pointed out: "I was in Entre Ríos. The director of the Posadas told me that he did not want Verbitsky to go to the Hospital because it is highly politicized and its workers have had consequences in the Dictatorship. Then he asked that they not be taken there and said that he was willing to go anywhere, even if they wanted the Ministry;

I said yes and that's it

, "he said.

After emphasizing that he made a mistake in "accepting what the director of the Posadas hospital proposed," he repeated that there was "no fundamental mistake or privilege."

The now former official considered that he already paid "a hard price" for that scandal that led to the request for the resignation of President Alberto Fernández.

González García had remained silent after his departure from the Ministry of Health and broke the silence on Monday, when he defended himself, noting that he did not vaccinate "anyone because he was a friend."

"I am very calm. In my view, everything that happened was within the resolution. And those who said that they were vaccinated because they were my friends, were 79 years old and it was their responsibility to get vaccinated," were the first words of the former minister.

The revelation of the case was an investigative work by Clarín, which Verbitsky anticipated, in February, when he learned that his name was going to be published, along with that of Senator Jorge Taiana and Deputy Eduardo Valdés, as personalities who had agreed to be vaccinated. in an operation mounted in the ministry.
