The remarks made by Audrey Pulvar this week are humanly and morally shocking.
They are not worthy of a candidate who calls herself progressive.
On May 19, we were not “
marching on the Assembly
”, but paying homage to our fallen colleagues.
We were not trying to "
pressure
" anyone, but called on the legislator for help.
As proof, many parliamentarians came to listen to us and parties from all political stripes were present at our rally.
It was a moment of communion between the citizens, the police and the legislator.
It is not worthy of an elected representative of Paris to call for hatred against the police.

Other words emerged, dating from June 9, 2020, much more shocking. Audrey Pulvar, not yet head of the list, but already deputy mayor of Paris, affirms that "the

We are sentries on the ground, observers. We put our heads and both hands where many would not put a foot. We alert the legislator to what we see, what we are witnesses, even victims. We must denounce these extremist speeches, which have consequences for an entire generation.

On a souvent reproché aux ministres précédents de ne pas s'exprimer. Il est nécessaire de porter plainte, pour montrer que ce n'est pas normal d'inciter à la haine envers ceux qui sont visés chaque jour par le terrorisme et la criminalité. Ces mots ont des incidences sur la société, ils entretiennent un regard délabré d'une partie des citoyens qui donne le sentiment qu'on peut haïr, voire abolir la police, comme le font souvent les Insoumis. Or l'abolition de la police sous-entend aussi la suppression de ses membres.

I think the comments of June 2020 are much more serious and deserve more to be brought to justice for defamation.
Unfortunately, there is a prescription.
We have three months to file a defamation complaint, compared to one year for incitement to hatred.
However, this motive is reserved for certain minorities, not for the police.
In this regard, I invite the legislator to amend the law.
That said, Gérald Darmanin's work should not stop with a communication exercise.
We are waiting for him to change the way the national police work;
in its communication, internally;
that it attack the politics of numbers;
sometimes tyrannical management.
Being a minister is not just about writing tweets, his role is to revolutionize the institution.
He must improve the police and respond to suffering.
The best way to defend our institution is to make the police better.
Audrey Pulvar blasted
"an attack on freedom of expression of extreme gravity".
Do you think she was right to say what she said?
The police institution could have benefited from arguing against Madame Pulvar's remarks, because she has arguments to make. But, freedom of expression does not allow defamation and public insult. We cannot afford anarchy in public debate. The debate must be conducted with respect and not with a lie.
