Because of Corona, the city of Schongau has relocated its annual auction of lost and found items to the Internet this year.
The first batch of bicycles has already been sold, and more bikes and other items will follow.
"We were looking for a way to empty the warehouse," says building yard manager Guido Schneider.

For a few days, it has been possible to bid for various items online via the platform www.zoll-auktion.de, the virtual auction house of the federal, state and local governments, which are looking for a new owner in Schongau.
So far it has mainly been found bikes that have been discontinued.
Children's bicycles, mountain bikes, men's bicycles, sports bicycles - they are offered for auction on the Internet in all colors and sizes.
All are companions that can no longer be assigned to any owner.
And so far - within the statutory period - neither the rightful owner has reported himself, nor has the finder asserted any property claims.

"So far there has always been a real auction," explains building yard manager Guido Schneider. Interested parties could view the bikes or objects in advance and then bid. Because this is not possible this year due to Corona, but the warehouse is full, they looked for another option. The vehicles are always posted online in blocks of ten, with descriptions and photos as detailed as possible. If you have been awarded the contract, you can still not get to your new bike without contact. Because the effort to send the bike would be far too great. Payment is made in cash upon collection. And you can't just walk into the building yard, you have to register in advance by phone.
The first ten bikes have been auctioned, the next are on sale, always for the minimum price of ten euros.
The proceeds are very different, but the first part of the auction did not bring in more than 50 euros.
So there is something for every budget.
“The quicker and better solution is direct auctioning,” Schneider concludes.
People want to go back there if Corona allows this.
But the virtual auction house is an alternative.
Auctioned after June 4th
The target for the end of the auction on the Internet portal was June 4th.
You won't be able to keep the date, estimates Martin Keßler from the Schongau Citizens Service.
Until then, you will probably only be through with the bikes, but the other found items such as clothing, accessories or cell phones should also come under the virtual hammer.
"The effort was underestimated," said Keßler.
Especially since some lost and found items came together, because no auction could take place last year due to Corona.
The items should therefore also be gradually placed on the customs auction page beyond this date.

The process with lost property in Schongau otherwise runs as usual, anyone who has found something or is missing something can contact the Citizen Service.
Keßler cannot reveal whether something very special is going to be auctioned.
But you don't have anything as conspicuous as two or three years ago: At that time, a bit had actually been handed in at the town hall.
