Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, the Special Adviser in the Presidency of the Republic, affirmed that Syria has suffered throughout history from occupation and colonialism, but it has been victorious every time, and that Syria and Iran will be the beacon of independent decision and the model of freedom in the region and the world.
During her meeting today, Dr. Shaaban expressed during her meeting with the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly delegation headed by Dr. Zahra Al-Hayyan, head of the Human Rights Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, who presented to accompany the Syrian presidential elections, her thanks for Iran's efforts and its response to the Syrian government's call to accompany the presidential elections scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Dr. Shaaban also expressed the gratitude of the Syrian people for the Iranian role in combating terrorism, stressing that the Syrian and Iranian peoples will overcome all the difficulties surrounding them.
She explained that the war on Syria was a military war that was accompanied by a misleading media that is still trying to spread lies that do not exist until now.
Dr. Shaaban also emphasized the role of the Palestinian media, which was a major reason for conveying the truth of what happened in Palestine recently, and which succeeded in showing the truth and winning the sympathy of the world, because lying is the permanent policy on which the Western and Zionist media rely on distorting and falsifying facts.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaaban touched on the importance of the issue of women, their status, the importance of their role in all political, economic, cultural and social fields, and the need for us to convey the true image of them in our societies to the world.
In turn, the head of the Iranian delegation spoke about Syria's pivotal role in the region, stressing that Syria has withstood imperialism and that the war against it was a global war, but this war failed to achieve its goal of overthrowing the Syrian state and that stability and safety in Syria today is the result of the steadfastness of the Syrian people, noting the sacrifices it made. Martyrs for the sake of defending the Syrian land and dignity, and Iran's support for Syria in this field.
Dr. El-Hayan said: The West does not care about the truth, but rather the demonized image it transmits to people everywhere.
Regarding the elections in Syria, the head of the Iranian delegation wished to take place with enthusiasm and wide participation and expressed her confidence that the Syrian people are up to the responsibility and that these elections will provide Syria with what serves its future, considering that the Syrian initiative to call to accompany the elections is the best evidence of its credibility and integrity.
Al-Hayan expressed her desire for more cultural, economic and tourism exchange between the two peoples in Iran and Syria, which would contribute to strengthening political and diplomatic relations, noting the importance of the role of women in the Islamic Republic and that they hold important political, governmental and scientific positions, expressing their desire to cooperate with Syria in this field.
The meeting was attended by the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani.
