The 49-year-old male truck driver involved was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. He is currently being detained for investigation. He will be charged with one crime of drug trafficking. The case will appear in Tuen Mun Magistracy tomorrow (27).
The police stated that the arrested man was driving a drug delivery vehicle and his role was mainly drug delivery.

The Chief Inspector of the Narcotics Bureau, Ye Xiulan, explained the facts of the case this morning (26th) that the police had successfully prevented a large number of cannabis drugs from entering the local market in this operation.
According to the police, marijuana smoking has been on the rise and younger in recent years. The number of marijuana cases cracked from January to April this year and the number of arrests in related cases has more than doubled from the same period last year, from 153 cases from January to April last year. This has risen to 324 cases in the same period this year, and the number of arrests has risen from 185 in the same period last year to 415 in the same period this year.
In addition, the number of young people under the age of 21 involved in marijuana cases has also increased by 80% over the same period last year, from 52 to 94.
The police seized nearly 528 kilograms of marijuana from January to April this year. The figure is already 80% of the total seizure of last year.
Ye Xiulan continued that some young people would come into contact with drug dealers through online platforms, and the police urged parents to pay more attention to prevent their children from going astray.
