On the Tölz bypass, traffic will be slowed down considerably - and this will probably be for more than half a year.

As the state building authority in Weilheim announced, work is being carried out to repair and strengthen the bridge that crosses the Isar and the 2072 state road.

Update from May 26th:

Bad Tölz

- From this Wednesday there will be slight traffic obstruction on the federal road 472 at the Tölzer Isar bridge. As reported, the State Building Authority is carrying out work on the repair and reinforcement of the bridge. As German Abenthum from the State Building Authority announced on request, the construction site has so far been set up. Now the work begins in the form of a small mobile construction site. “Temporary ramps are being built.” The plan is to direct traffic over the footpaths so that there will be no complete closure. The pedestrians, on the other hand, are then diverted to the other side of the bridge. The preparatory work will take about one to one and a half weeks, according to Abenthum. Then things really start. As reported, the speed will be reduced to 30 kilometers per hour in the area of the construction site.

At the construction site on the Töl 7 district road at the level of the reservoir, however, further work was postponed.

Initially, as continuously reported, a full closure for the Whitsun holidays was planned.

As reported by Martin Herda from the State Building Authority, the closure will now take place during the summer holidays.

- During work on the B 472, traffic can almost always flow past the construction site via temporary lanes in both directions.

However, a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour will apply in the area.

"Special traffic routing is only necessary for short construction phases," said a statement from the State Building Authority on Friday.

This can mean, for example, a half-way block with traffic lights at night or a temporary full block for heavy traffic over 3.5 tons with diversion via urban roads.

Such regulations will then be announced separately.

Preliminary work has already been going on in the past two years

According to the building authority, the Isar bridge was built in 1981 and now needs to be upgraded.

The bridge had already been examined with special equipment in autumn 2019 and 2020 (we reported).

One goal of the current work is to increase the load-bearing capacity of the bridge.

After all, she has to endure a lot every day.

According to the State Building Authority, around 16,000 vehicles per day roll over the 132.80 meter long and 15.25 meter wide structure, which is located on the important east-west connection of the B 472, and here above all the many trucks in the truest sense of the word of the word carry weight.

The costs amount to around 3.3 million euros

In the course of the repairs, sidewalks, bridge sealing, road surface and bridge bearings will also be renewed and a noise-reducing transition structure will be created.

The federal government bears the costs of 3.3 million euros.

The measure is expected to last until the end of November.

In the Isarwinkel too, roads have recently been or are still being built diligently: three-pack construction sites: sewer construction, power lines and railway underpass
