Pastor Sebastian Kneipp would have celebrated his 200th birthday on May 17th.

To mark the anniversary of the pioneer of Kneipp teaching, the District Office, in cooperation with the Brucker District Association of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC), created a bicycle tour through the district.

The special thing about the tour: It connects six Kneipp facilities.

This also marks another anniversary: The Mach-Mit-Verein Fürstenfeldbruck, which has its roots in the Kneipp association founded in 1931, is 80 years old this year.

The Tour

The 29-kilometer tour starts at the Germeringer See parking lot.

From here you go counter-clockwise to the northeast bank.

In a semicircle you continue around the lake before you turn right onto Kreutweg.

Here there is a short, steep cut to the Parsberg.

Now it's going downhill.

In Puchheim-Ort, cross Augsburger Straße and follow Kirchweg and Alte Bahnofstraße - keep right at the junction.

The second Kneipp facility is located there.

Continue on the Gröbenbachweg parallel to the Gröbenbach. Pass the Marienkapelle and continue on Pappelallee. Before the duck pond, turn right onto Bahnhofstrasse and take the second exit at the roundabout. On the north side of the Puchheim S-Bahn station, the route continues on Aubinger Weg, before turning left at Eichenauer Straße and following the Gröbenbach again. The third Kneipp facility is on the right in Puchheim-Bahnhof.

Then drive onto Wiesenweg and after around 50 meters turn right onto Lochhauser Straße. From here, turn right onto Lagerstraße. In the further course, turn left onto Bachstraße and follow Gröbenbachweg. In Gröbenzell the path leads through a green area with a playground and to Ammerseestrasse on the bike and footpath to the fourth Kneipp facility, which is on the left, around 100 meters after a wooden bridge.

You cross the wooden bridge and drive onto the trout trail. From there, turn right onto Puchheimer Straße and immediately left again onto Hans-Sachs-Straße. The path continues on Nordendstrasse to Alpenrosenstrasse. From there it goes left into the Alpenstraße and immediately right again into the Enzianstraße. At the end of the street, follow the path straight ahead and turn left along the Ascherbach. After the soccer field, turn right and continue to the roundabout on Roggensteiner Straße. At the first roundabout take the third exit, at the second roundabout take the second exit.

From there, continue south on Schillerstraße until you turn right in Am Lichtfeld and go to the Eichenau S-Bahn station. We continue on the East Prussia Trail. After the Evangelical Care Center, turn left before continuing to the right on the Donauschwabenweg. This becomes the Roggensteiner Allee. After crossing the first bridge over the Starzelbach, continue on the right side of the stream. The fifth Kneipp facility in Eichenau is on the left.

The penultimate stage follows.

Past a playground, follow Roggensteiner Allee.

This leads straight past the Eichenauer See.

At the end of the street you cycle left over a small bridge with blue railings and continue parallel to the B2.

Cross the main road over a large bridge (Puchheimer Straße) and follow it until you turn right into a small dirt road.

The sixth Kneipp facility in Alling is located there.

From there it goes back to the starting point at Germeringer See: Via Griesstraße and finally Parsbergstraße, into which you turn left.

Past the Schusterhäusl, it now goes downhill towards Germeringer See.

Arrival with the MVV

The S-Bahn runs directly to the centrally located stage locations Germering, Puchheim and Eichenau as well as to Gröbenzell.

This makes it easy to shorten the travel route in the event of defects or bad weather.

Only Alling has no direct S-Bahn connection.

When taking bicycles on the S-Bahn, please note that it is not permitted from Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There is no afternoon blocking period during the school holidays.

Online map

The map for the tour is available on the Internet at www.outdooractive.com.

Simply enter the keywords “Kneipp” and “Fürstenfeldbruck” in the search field.

The maps can be printed out or downloaded as a GPX file.

This can be read into almost all common navigation apps or Google Maps.

Kneipp tips

There are a few things to consider when doing Kneipp therapy. So you should never step into the water with your feet already cold. If necessary, they can be brought to temperature beforehand with a little movement. With every step, one leg should be completely out of the water, the so-called stork walk. You should only stay in the water until a strong cold stimulus occurs. This can be the case after half a minute or even after several minutes. It is also important that you do not dry yourself off after the Kneipp bath, but just wipe off the water with your hands. Then put on stockings and shoes again. There should be a break of around two hours between two Kneipp treatments. That is why it is also worthwhile if you take a whole day for the tour and cycle comfortably from one facility to the next.
