Over a year ago, there was resistance among the population to a planned wood chip heating system in the middle of Mammendorf.

Now residents are threatening a lawsuit to prevent the construction and thus the commissioning.

Mammendorf -

The Schamberger family wants to build the wood chip heating system.

In the basement of a warehouse and garage building that is also to be built.

The old school as well as the surrounding residents should also be supplied.

In the May meeting of the municipal council, the motion was on the agenda.

Around 20 Mammendorf residents had come to the meeting at the time, and three had spoken out.

A list with 50 signatures against the construction of the heating system had previously been submitted to the committee.

The residents were particularly concerned about harmful particulate matter pollution.

In addition, they were of the opinion that in the immediate vicinity of the old school and the new town hall square, the townscape would be spoiled by a heating system with an eleven meter high chimney.

Mayor Josef Heckl (BGM) admitted that the location was quite critical.

Werner Zauser (FW) suggested an information event and Anton Fasching (BGM) advised residents to make the reports on noise and immission control available to residents.

The motion was then on the agenda a second time.

In July 2020, the municipal council approved the construction of the facility with a 14-1 vote.

The objections of the citizens should be submitted to the district office.

In addition, the authority should check whether the heating is admissible under immission law.

Before the meeting, the spokesman for the residents, Gerhart Teschke, had called in the town hall.

Heckl had refused his request for an information event.

He justified this with the fact that the concerns of the residents had already been discussed in detail at the May meeting.

But Teschke does not want to accept that. He announced resistance. He accuses the local council of ignoring the concerns of local residents and brushing them aside. The spokesman refers to a similar case in Adelshofen. In contrast to Adelshofen, according to Teschke, the heating system is not planned on the outskirts, but in the middle of the town and also in a general residential area. "In addition, near a day nursery and a kindergarten." Teschke announced that all legal options would be checked to prevent the heating center from going into operation. A lawyer has already inspected files at the district office.

Teschke is annoyed that the two stainless steel chimneys have already been built.

It would be very strange, says Teschke, if completely different standards were to apply within the administrative association (VG) for two similar projects.

In terms of dimensions, the two systems are not comparable, says the Schamberger family.

Incidentally, you spoke to all direct neighbors in advance.

Everyone would want to join them.

Otherwise, the Schamberger family does not want to say anything further.

When a specific building application is submitted, the local council cannot simply propose further site reviews, Heckl took the committee out of the line of fire.

In addition, there is a building change application in Adelshofen, and the heating system cannot be compared with the one in Mammendorf.

Non-disruptive commercial operations are exceptionally permitted in a general residential area if the relevant requirements are met.

In addition to two reports, the municipality has called for a filter to be installed and for the wood chips to be delivered not exactly during rush hour due to the traffic on the B2.
