A shooting in San Jose, California, left
at least 8 dead and multiple injuries

According to the police at a press conference, the alleged perpetrator died after the incident.
"I can confirm
multiple injuries and multiple deaths,
" said the spokesman, who declined to offer specific figures for the victims because the investigation is ongoing and the information is "preliminary."
The event occurred at the facilities of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), which is located south of the San Francisco Bay, in California, and which includes the city of San José. .
Among the victims
are employees of that government entity

The perpetrator of the shooting died, but the police have not yet explained the circumstances of his death.
The police went to the crime scene after receiving several calls from neighbors to the emergency number 911 to alert what was happening.
The VTA provides bus, light rail and other transit services throughout Santa Clara County, the largest in the Bay Area and home to Silicon Valley.
A spokesperson for the agency did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment.

," San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said on Twitter.
Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a tweet that his office was "in close contact with local law enforcement and closely monitoring this situation."
Special agents from the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also responding to the crime scene, authorities said.
