After a season without titles, Real Madrid receives another blow: Zinedine Zidane will cease to be the team's coach and will end his second stint at the club, which had begun in March 2019.
The French coach, winner of three consecutive Champions League in his first stage, would have already informed the club president,
Florentino Pérez
, that he will leave his position and will not continue at the helm of the squad next season.
This is stated by the Spanish press and -especially- the Madrid newspapers that follow the Merengue team campaign.
The newspaper Marca emphasizes in the last statements of the coach that he had said that he was going to
"make it easy" for
the club at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the newspaper As, reports that Zidane had asked for a few days to reflect after the closure of the Spanish League, in which he finished as runner-up behind Atlético de Madrid, and that late on Wednesday he would have already communicated his decision to the players and managers.
If confirmed, Zidane will break his contract, which was valid until 2022.
Meanwhile, for Florentino Pérez it is a new setback in a season in which everything went wrong.
Without titles, with low performance of the team;
and after the scandal generated by the creation of the European Super League, which left him under scrutiny before UEFA, which could sanction the club.
Now coach loses his star, idol of the fans meringues.
However, in Real Madrid there is never a lack of negotiations and names.
The Italians Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri are already playing, and Raúl González Blanco, the striker who shone with the white jersey, the player with the most appearances in history (741) and the second all-time top scorer with 323 goals, behind Cristiano's 450 Ronaldo.
The news of Zidane's departure exploded around midnight in Spain and it only remains for it to be made official.
But the coach would not be the only one to make noise when leaving: behind him could lead the exodus the historical captain Sergio Ramos and then the forward Karim Benzema.
