The indigenous community of Pilahuín in the province of Tungurahua, in the central highlands of Ecuador, organized an ancestral ceremony of handing over the «baton of command» to Guillermo Lasso, who on Monday took office as the country's 47th president .

With music, dance and ancestral rites, the ceremony took place in the Tamboloma sector, where authorities and inhabitants of indigenous communities attended.

The event revolved around the "chacana", which is an Andean cross that symbolizes the union between the world and the human in the original cultures of the Andes.
