Dozens of families who perished in the Mount Meron disaster gathered tonight (Thursday) at the Western Wall plaza in Jerusalem for a prayer rally, at the end of which they raised the demand for a real investigation "without rendering," as they put it.

This, a month after the disaster in Meron and against the background of the political storm over the demand for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry that will examine what happened in the event that claimed the lives of 45 dead and dozens injured in the celebration of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

Rabbi Meir Elhadad, who lost his sons, 12-year-old Moshe and 18-year-old Yosef in the disaster, said that "we are expected to demand and investigate, that there be a real commission of inquiry, with teeth, without rendering."

Elhadad said they do not want to look for culprits, do not want revenge on anyone but demand that such cases not be repeated in the future.

He referred to the claim raised by ultra-Orthodox politicians that if the Supreme Court judge were to head a commission of inquiry, there was a fear that the character of the tomb site in Meron would be harmed.

"It is clear that we do not want there to be any damage to the authentic Jewish character of the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar - Yochai, but there are ways to make a real commission of inquiry and not as they would do rendering at all times."

Israel Diskind, Simcha's brother who was killed in the disaster, added that "any commission of inquiry that does not have a real commission of inquiry is a commission of inquiry of soap and soap. We must get here to investigate the truth through a state commission of inquiry.

At the end of the conference, the families issued a statement stating that a state commission of inquiry was required to investigate the events, although some members of the families of those killed would also agree to set up a public commission of inquiry.

The statement said: "This is not a disaster for the ultra-Orthodox sector, it is a disaster for the general public in Israel. We, the families of those who perished, were sure that in a few days the State of Israel will convene and investigate the incident in depth - so that such tragedies do not happen again." And oiled. "

"Unfortunately we are discovering a professional and well-oiled rendering system."

"Thirty days after the disaster, we are horrified to discover that instead of investigating and deepening the affair in order to prevent the next disaster, a system is developing whose whole function is to whitewash the greatest civil disaster in the country's history. Today, we, the families of those killed in the disaster, want to be very clear. "True with powers and teeth," it read.

"We must come to the truth so that we can find a cure for the immense pain, and also so that we can prevent the next tragedy. Our conscience will not calm down until we know we have done everything to ensure that the world of others is not destroyed as our world was destroyed on the day of disaster."

"It is not just us, the families of the dead. We as a society and as a country are commanded to be vigilant and do everything we can to prevent similar disasters in the future. We will fight with all means at our disposal to establish a state commission of inquiry with teeth and powers, just as a tragedy of this magnitude requires ".
