The Nuremberg Institute for Employment Research gives a good prognosis for the labor market.
The barometer points upwards in May.
Nuremberg - The Nuremberg Institute for Employment Research (IAB) gives a good forecast for the development of the labor market.
In May, the labor market barometer rose significantly, as the institute announced on Thursday (May 27) in Nuremberg *.
The value is currently 104.6 points, a smooth two points more than a month ago.
The last time the barometer was so favorable was March 2018.
According to Enzo Weber, head of the IAB research department “Forecasts and Macroeconomic Analysis”, the reason for this is the prospect of significant relaxation of the Corona * restrictions.
The labor market barometer is an early indicator of developments in the labor market and is based on surveys among all local employment agencies in Germany.
Nuremberg: IAB forecasts positive development in unemployment figures
In particular, the component of the barometer, which predicts unemployment, was rated positively by employment agencies in May.
Here there was an increase of 2.7 points compared to the previous month - with just under 106 points, the barometer is the second highest in its history.
In other words: The employment agencies expect a nationwide decline in the unemployed in the coming months.
According to the IAB, the positive prognoses can also be attributed to the falling number of infections.
Because in this way more measures, such as qualifications or seminars for the unemployed, could take place again.
This has a positive effect on the development on the labor market.
The agencies are also optimistic about the development of employment.
"The signs point to recovery," says Enzo Weber, describing the 1.2 point increase in May.
Record employment growth like in the years before the crisis is not yet in sight.
