The Congregation of Jesuits in Chile admitted this Tuesday that at least 64 people have been victims of sexual or conscience abuse by 11 of its priests, who were investigated by the institution itself between 2005 and 2020.
In a 32-page report released by the AFP news agency, the religious order explained that, of the 17 Jesuits investigated for sexual abuse in canonical processes, they managed to prove the responsibility of 11 for sexual abuse of 34 minors and 30 Adults.

«Within our institution, serious crimes, negligence and errors have been carried out that should never have occurred and, for this reason, I want to apologize to all those who have been violated, damaged, their families, our communities, and society in their as a whole ”, stated in the report Gabriel Roblero, provincial of the Society of Jesus in Chile.
Of the accused religious, five died, three left the company and another three, according to the congregation, "are currently being subjected to strict professional supervision plans" and with psychological help, in addition to restrictions on approaching minors.
The report establishes that all the antecedents of these cases were delivered to the justice since 2018, while 31 of the victims received financial compensation from the order.
