At last!

From Saturday the outdoor catering in the district can open again.

For the new start, Bräustüberl host Peter Hubert is offering a special service: there is a test bus in the parking lot.

Tegernsee

- The Tegernseer Bräustüberl has been cooking since Thursday. Preparations for Saturday are in full swing. The Bräustüberl opens its beer garden, and host Peter Hubert expects a huge rush after seven months of closure. As a service for its guests, a bus is available in the parking lot during the opening hours, in which visitors can be tested for Corona quickly and free of charge, although it didn't look good for an opening of the outdoor catering in the district on Saturday. Actually, Sunday would have been the earliest possible date, but an application from District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) to the government of Upper Bavaria was successful.

“I already suspected something like that,” says Hubert, who had also fought with the Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH to open it earlier. One thing is clear to him: The fastest possible opening should not fail because of his preparation. He got his permanent staff - almost 100 employees - in the mood for the start in several small meetings. “We're all very euphoric,” says Hubert. The time of closure and short-time work was "not nice" for the service staff. Especially since the waitresses live to a large extent from tips, for which there is no substitute. Fortunately, the core team stayed on track, he only lost three employees. We are still looking for temporary workers for the big summer rush. Before the pandemic, it was mainly Austrians who worked in ski huts in winter. Many have now looked for new jobs.

Many guidelines to be observed

"But we are now looking ahead, not back," says Hubert.

He is happy to finally be able to open, even if the restart is associated with a lot of tension.

“It's not like after seven months you just turn the key and carry on as before,” he says.

The pandemic is by no means over, and hygiene requirements require special measures.

In order not to have to turn someone away because of a missing negative test, Hubert organized a test bus from Munich.

Bus operator Martin Geldhauser places a vehicle in the parking lot during the Bräustüberl opening times, in which trained staff can carry out a rapid corona test.

The guests can register via the portal www.deintestbus.de and receive their results in a few minutes.

Optimistic restart

But even with a negative test, depending on the incidence, various requirements must be observed, especially with regard to the number of guests at a table. It is also necessary to ensure that the data for contact tracking is recorded. Hubert will display the usual slips of paper, and it should also be possible to conveniently capture them via QR code. The technicians are still tinkering because, according to Hubert, the Luca app in the Bräustüberl is not currently working. But there is also another provider and the option to register using the Corona warning app, reports Hubert. At the moment you have to adapt to the requirements.

There is also the question of how the audience will react. Are guests drawn to the beer garden despite the obligation to test and the pandemic? With a lot of posts on social media, Hubert tried to stay present during lockdown. Now he is hoping for a good restart: "But we are confident."
