Dominic Cummings makes the British Prime Minister difficult to explain.

On Wednesday, Boris Johnson's former chief advisor testified in the House of Commons about the British government's corona strategy and made massive allegations against Johnson and his cabinet.

The prime minister has now made a brief statement on this.

Johnson vehemently denied claims that tens of thousands of people died of Covid-19 as a result of the UK government's inaction.

The initiation of the corona measures were the result of "an incredibly difficult series of decisions", none of which were taken lightly.

Each step was a step that had the goal of saving lives.

Cummings had accused the government of serious negligence in a hearing lasting several hours the day before.

The premier initially underestimated Corona and compared it to swine flu, claimed Cummings.

He also said Prime Minister Johnson was incapable of doing his job.

"We're focusing on what's important to the people of this country," Johnson said when confronted with Cummings' allegations of inability to conduct.

Some of the statements made by his former advisor in the House of Commons "have absolutely nothing to do with reality," the British Prime Minister continued.

Health Secretary Hancock defends himself against allegations

Johnson's Minister of Health Matt Hancock had previously commented on the appearance of Cummings in the House of Commons.

Hancock was also massively attacked by the former government adviser.

The Minister of Health has now denied the allegations.

"These baseless accusations (...) are not true," said Hancock in the House of Commons in London.

Every day since the pandemic began, he has wondered what he can do to save lives.

"What we've done to tackle the corona pandemic is unprecedented in recent times," Hancock said.

The government will continue to act openly and transparently.

Cummings had accused Hancock of lying and criminal acts.

For example, the minister failed to procure protective equipment and tried to put the blame on others.

Cummings said the government had failed.

"We will make it"

Hancock highlighted the success of the UK vaccination campaign.

Almost half of adults have received both doses to date.

He is proud of his team in the Ministry of Health, nurses, hospital staff and volunteers.

“Britain is rising to this challenge.

We'll make it, ”said Hancock.

It is important that the people are vaccinated and tested - this is what the government provides.

"That is what is important for this country."

Hancock did not respond directly to Cummings' allegations that the government had sent corona patients back to nursing homes without testing, thereby encouraging the spread of the virus.

He said many peculiarities of the virus were not yet known, especially at the beginning of the pandemic.

The government has followed scientific advice, said Hancock.
