The case was investigated by the District Crime Squad of Wan Chai Police.

Judge Hu Yawen today sentenced 8 of the 10 defendants in the whole case to prison. Among them, Li Zhuoren, Liang Guoxiong, and Chen Haohuan were in prison for 18 months, and the rest were 14 months. Some of the sentences were executed at the same time as other cases. The total sentence of the 8 defendants was From 14 to 22, Shan Zhongkai and Cai Yaochang were granted a two-year probation.

At sentencing, Judge Hu Yawen stated that the parade that day was not peaceful and that violent acts such as criminal damage and arson occurred in the parade. He believed that the four defendants involved in incitement merely repeated the call for peace and non-violence, which was naive and unrealistic. The incident was at a time of social turmoil. The defendant was aware of these risks, but still deliberately challenged public order, and imprisonment was the only option.
