French police killed a man who stabbed a policewoman near Nantes, in western France.
Sources close to the investigation told AFP that the man was killed during an exchange of fire with the police after he stabbed a policewoman in the municipal guard with a knife in La Chapelle-sur-Erder near Nantes.
The sources pointed out that the man was "an extremist and suffers from serious mental illnesses."
A French policewoman was killed on the 24th of last month in a stabbing attack southwest of Paris.
