Today (Friday) marks a month since the disaster in Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yohai's celebration in Meron, and so far there has been no taking responsibility, lessons learned or significant progress in trying to understand the main failure that led to the deaths of 45 dead and dozens injured in the heavy civil disaster in the history of Israel.

The investigations of the police and the department for the investigation of advanced police officers are lazy, only a few were interrogated, while key elements who were involved in approving the revelry did not, and if they wanted to, they could be constantly smeared and whitewashed, not to mention disrupt investigation procedures and obscure traces.

At the same time, politicians are texting the establishment of a state commission of inquiry to investigate the incident.

A month for disaster - this is the situation.

Immediately after the disaster, the Attorney General announced that DIP would immediately begin an investigation to find out if there were any criminal suspicions of police officers in the context of the disaster in Meron. It was later decided on an outline in which two investigative teams would operate.

Mandelblit assumed that the teams would work collaboratively and coordinated for the purpose of investigating the incident, while adhering to fences and restrictions for the collaborative work, in several aspects, in order to maintain the investigative independence of each body and its ability to optimally clarify the truth. Among the reservations set for the work of the participating team: only DIP investigators will collect a message from police officers, and the police staff will not be exposed to the question of investigating a police officer as a suspect and will not be involved in it at all.

During the investigation conducted by DIP investigators since the disaster in Meron, many materials were collected, including various documents related to the incident and photographs from the cameras spread on the site. The investigators are still processing the large amount of material collected and mapping it, and at the end of these investigations it will be decided.

At the same time, eight suspects have so far been questioned with a warning by the Economic Crime Unit at Blade 433. About two weeks ago, they were the director general of the Holy Places Development Authority, Rabbi Yosef Schwinger, the Northern District Director and two engineers. , And the owner and one of the executives at the security company "Blue and White" which provides security services to Meron throughout the year. All suspects were released at the end of the investigation on their own bail. The

source said in a conversation with Walla! That the police are still investigating the circumstances of the incident. The suspects are negligently causing death, but "it may change later, depending on the prosecution's decision and the role of each suspect in the disaster." According to a senior police official, "this is a complex and sensitive investigation that will take a long time, and more suspects will be summoned for warning."

Public representatives are sweeping - and the world is silent

Politicians are also not doing enough to set up a state commission of inquiry, one that will examine the past and force decision-makers to learn lessons for the future.

The organizing committee this week approved an exemption from the obligation to discount - approval for expedited promotion - to the Yesh Atid bill, the purpose of which is to force the government to establish such a committee.

A bloc of Netanyahu's opponents, including the right, supported this - but now the proposal is stuck that Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin of the Likud does not allow the promotion of private legislation in the Knesset.

The ones who reap the "fruits" are the ultra-Orthodox politicians, members of Shas and Torah Judaism. The latter have so far provided a long list of excuses why a state committee will not achieve what is required. Among other things: a judge must not be a Jew. Shimon Bar-Yohai; such a committee will conduct long discussions that will last for years; first, the state must provide financial compensation for families;

These are just excuses, meant to dispel fog around their opposition to the establishment of the commission, which apparently stems from an attempt to establish one fact on the ground: what was in Meron, will continue to be.

Otherwise, why a month since the disaster did not set up a committee?

If they opposed a state committee, then why not set up a government committee?

Public?

Any committee?

And they are not the only ones responsible for this: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana and the entire Netanyahu supporters' bloc are also partners in the decision not to establish such a committee.

In the cable car disaster in Italy, such a committee was set up, a day later.

Only in Israel, public representatives can sweep, apply and whitewash - and the world is silent.

Long list of excuses.

Also earlier this month, the State Comptroller's Office also announced an investigation into the circumstances that led to the Meron disaster.

The State Comptroller's Office said the team had begun work, but declined to say what had been done so far.
