The European Commission has launched an action against the social network TikTok, accused of using disguised advertising and targeting children, to comply with EU consumer protection rules, according to a statement released on Friday .
The Commission, together with the Consumer Protection Cooperation Network (CPC) bringing together the competent authorities of the Member States, "
entered into a formal dialogue with TikTok for a review of its trade policy and practices
".
The European executive gives the platform one month to respond, it is specified.
A similar action has been carried out since March in the United Kingdom.
Former England Children's Commissioner Anne Longfield has launched legal action against the short video platform.
She accuses the network of illegally collecting personal data from millions of children in the UK and Europe.
