On Thursday evening, “Markus Lanz” is about the upcoming federal election on September 26th. Who will inherit the post from Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU)? One of the hot candidates is CDU boss Armin Laschet. He prevailed against Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder in an electoral thriller. But was this the right decision for the traditional party? If NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann has its way, then yes.

In an interview with ZDF presenter Markus Lanz, the CDU man does not shy away from openly teasing CSU boss Söder.

Until recently, this was the absolute favorite in the race for the post of Chancellor.

So it's no wonder that Lanz wants to know on Laumann's show: "How often have you felt sorry for your boss in the last few weeks and months?"

He replies in a calm voice that Armin Laschet is now considered the “most important man in the Union”.

For this reason, Laumann adds: "I think it's good that he got through it well."

According to the doctor, "whether children and adolescents get their social life and school attendance back must not depend on the vaccination."
