He's not a fan of Söder.

NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann is clearly on the side of CDU Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet in “Markus Lanz”.

On Thursday evening, “Markus Lanz” is about the upcoming federal election on September 26th. Who will inherit the post from Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU)? One of the hot candidates is CDU boss Armin Laschet. He prevailed against Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder in an electoral thriller. But was this the right decision for the traditional party? If NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann has its way, then yes.

In an interview with ZDF presenter Markus Lanz, the CDU man does not shy away from openly teasing CSU boss Söder.

Until recently, this was the absolute favorite in the race for the post of Chancellor.

So it's no wonder that Lanz wants to know on Laumann's show: "How often have you felt sorry for your boss in the last few weeks and months?"

He replies in a calm voice that Armin Laschet is now considered the “most important man in the Union”.

For this reason, Laumann adds: "I think it's good that he got through it well."

"Markus Lanz" - these were his guests on May 27th:

  • Karl-Josef Laumann

    - NRW Minister for Health, Labor and Social Affairs (CDU)

  • Yasmine M'Barek

    - Zeit Online Editor

  • Prof. Dirk Brockmann

    - physicist

  • Prof. Jörg Dötsch

    - pediatrician

In the broadcast on May 27, the Minister of Health of North Rhine-Westphalia also addresses the bitter power struggle between Söder and Laschet.

With a pointed tongue he says about the Bavarian Prime Minister: "I wouldn't have liked the alternative so much."

With an interested eye, Markus Lanz then tries to find out whether Laumann doubts Söder's seriousness.

However, the politician does not agree to that.

Instead, he raves about CDU boss Laschet and calls him a “real Christian Democrat” and a “dead honest man”.

CDU politician Karl-Josef Laumann asks himself critical questions about the vaccination summit: "Will we organize in peace?"

But not only Söder and Laschet are long-running favorites at “Markus Lanz”. The ongoing corona pandemic is still keeping the show's guests in suspense. Especially after the vaccination summit, the moods seem heated - because from June 12 to 16 year olds will also receive a vaccination offer. Right at the beginning of the program, Markus Lanz criticized that this statement aroused expectations that could never be met in practice. Because despite the promise to want to carry out millions of corona vaccinations for children and adolescents, there are still far from enough vaccination doses.

Despite the obvious problems, NRW Minister of Health Laumann is calm and simply replies: "We will now organize this calmly, the foundation stone has been laid today."

The politician then described in a calm voice that several concepts from the individual federal states would be presented in May.

"Special promotions and printing"?

According to Karl-Josef Laumann, there is no room for them.

Physician Jörg Dötsch asks “Markus Lanz” (ZDF) to protect children from a guilty conscience

At the vaccination summit on May 27, it was also decided that the decision as to whether a child or adolescent should be vaccinated rests with the respective parents.

Above all, this is supposed to relieve the vaccination pressure, explains Laumann at "Markus Lanz".

In an interview with the ZDF moderator, the youth doctor Jörg Dötsch who was present also emphasized that any pressure should be avoided.

According to the doctor, "whether children and adolescents get their social life and school attendance back must not depend on the vaccination."

Accordingly, it is the responsibility of an adult to get vaccinated and thus to protect the children from a guilty conscience.

"Markus Lanz" - the conclusion of the show

On Thursday evening, “Markus Lanz” will, among other things, deal with the new resolutions during the vaccination summit. The promise to supply children and young people with vaccination doses from June onwards is met with incomprehension from Markus Lanz, among others. While the ZDF presenter is pestering NRW Health Minister Laumann with critical questions, the youth doctor Jörg Dötsch asks not to give children a guilty conscience just because they are not vaccinated. The reason: The probability of dying from the corona virus is very low for children.
