Detention of two gas car drivers in Damascus manipulating the weight of the cylinders to trade in

Members of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Damascus, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, have today arrested drivers of two gas distribution vehicles containing 700 cylinders in Dumar Al-Balad region, manipulating the weight of the cylinders to be traded on the black market.

The Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Damascus, Uday Shibli, said in a statement to SANA’s representative that while the Directorate’s personnel were carrying out their work in the Damar al-Balad region, two gas distribution vehicles were seized, inside the first 350 full gas cylinders, and inside the second 350 empty gas cylinders. In order to obtain additional gas cylinders and trade them on the black market illegally.

Shibli stated that the drivers were seized and referred to the competent court, and legal measures were taken in accordance with Legislative Decree No. 8 of 2021, indicating that the gas cylinders were distributed in the place designated for them in the Baghdad Street area for citizens who received e-mails after confirming the cylinder’s weight under the supervision of the directorate’s personnel.
