Anne Hidalgo's sports assistant, Pierre Rabadan presents the summer activities in the capital. The big news will be at the Trocadé

Summer is comming.

Yes, if we assure you.

Because if the month of May was wet, the summer period promises to be hot.

And the City of Paris has decided to bring something new this year to its entertainment program, especially at the unmissable Paris Plages.

The gradual lifting of health measures thus made it possible to launch “THE” long-awaited meeting. “We programmed it last year but we had to give it up. This time around, around the fountains of the Trocadéro we are going to create a platform for events in the continuity of Paris Plages and the banks of the Seine ”, ignites Pierre Rabadan, the sports assistant of Anne Hidalgo (PS ).

And to continue: “There will be 3x3 basketball - we are also finalizing an agreement to host Quai 54

(Editor's note: a basketball competition)

- and skateboarding.

The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be broadcast on site and activities will be organized by the COJO

(Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games)

and the CNOSF

(French National Olympic and Sports Committee)

for all.

We should also be able to welcome the athletes there when they return from the Games, because once their competitions are over, they cannot stay there.

There will also be the handover of the flag between Tokyo and Paris 2024. "

Pierre Rabadan is a sports assistant for the City of Paris.

This year, therefore, no wild swimming in the pools at the foot of the Musée de l'Homme and the Chaillot theater facing the Eiffel Tower but sport, more sport but also a little outdoor fashion with a parade scheduled for the end of summer.

However, there is still one unknown, in addition to the weather: the gauge in public.

“Initially, this platform can accommodate 8,000 to 10,000 people.

There we will certainly be below that capacity.

But health measures are changing and since everything is outside we will see what we can do, ”assures the ex-rugby player from Stade Français.

Activities from La Villette to Trocadéro

It will therefore be necessary to manage the influx of aficionados.

"There is a huge desire to regain possession of public space after a difficult year linked to confinement," continues Pierre Rabadan.

Paris Plages, from the Bassin de la Villette with its swimming, its climbing wall on a barge, to the Parc de la Villette with breakdance lessons, on the banks of the Seine to Trocadéro, we offer a whole series of activities.

All this will make it possible to resume a sporting but also cultural activity because for us, it was essential to associate these two sectors which have suffered enormously from the Covid crisis.

"And to conclude:" Yes, the summer will be sporty and active on the banks of the Seine.

It is a return to life.

"
