Judged in a case of rigged public contracts, Senator Jean-Noël Guérini was sentenced Friday, May 28 in Marseille to three years in prison, including 18 months suspended, and his brother Alexandre to six years in prison.

Jean-Noël Guérini, a former strongman of the Socialist Party of Bouches-du-Rhône, was also sentenced to a fine of 30,000 euros and five years of deprivation of civil and civil rights. A deferred committal warrant has been issued against his brother Alexander, who will have to present himself in prison. He was further banned from running a business for five years and was deprived of his civic rights during the same period.
