Sharp criticism of the distribution of the vaccine in Germany comes from the head of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Hamburg.
Apparently, Biontech cans should be withheld.
Munich - The hopes placed on the vaccine in the coronavirus pandemic are high, the vaccination pace in Germany has picked up speed after initial difficulties.
More than 40 percent of the total population received a primary vaccination.
14.3 percent, around 11.9 million people, are fully vaccinated.
Nevertheless, points of criticism remain.
Last but not least, Health Minister Jens Spahn was massively criticized for the lifting of the vaccination prioritization.
Now the Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians spoke up.
Coronavirus in Germany: is the federal government withholding vaccine?
Medical practices in Germany still receive relatively few vaccines.
The campaign cannot really pick up speed there.
According to the Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the reason for this is that the federal government is holding back vaccination doses.
Affected is the vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer, which is "saved up" for students and companies.
This is reported by
NDR 90.3
in relation to a conversation with the head of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Walter Plassmann.
In the first week of June, for example, there was a maximum of 24 cans of Biontech per doctor.
According to the federal government's delivery forecast, there shouldn't be much more cans in the course of June.
From June 7th, however, according to Plassmann, it should be possible for companies to order up to 800 cans per week.
The federal government had announced that it would offer children and young people a vaccination against the coronavirus until the end of the summer vacation. The Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) has not yet issued a recommendation for vaccination for children in Germany. Manufacturer Biontech had applied for approval of the vaccine for twelve to 15-year-olds from the EU Medicines Agency (EMA).
At the request of the
NDR
to the Ministry of Health on alleged vaccine reserves, there was initially no response from the Federal Ministry of Health.
Jens Spahn told
Bild am Sonntag
on May 23
: “One way to get regular classes after the summer vacation is to vaccinate young people.
[...] Because only a certain vaccine is eligible for approval because of the approval, enough Biontech doses must be reserved for it. "
Corona vaccination campaign: Fear that doctor's offices will disengage
According to
NDR 90.3
, the
head of the Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians feared
that many medical practices could stop vaccinating entirely due to this redistribution of the vaccine, because the effort for the small number of doses is too high. Most recently, Oliver Funken, Chairman of the North Rhine General Practitioner Association, raised the alarm. He spoke of a "dangerous development" as numerous general practitioners' practices would log off from the vaccination system. (mbr)
