Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian Chargé d'Affairs to Russia to the ministry’s headquarters and handed him a protest note against the hostile and provocative acts taking place in front of the Russian embassy in Kiev.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Ukrainian diplomat was informed that the Russian side considers these provocations another flagrant violation by Ukraine of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
Relations between Russia and Ukraine deteriorated after the coup that took place in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, in 2014, with the support of NATO, as the new Ukrainian authority banned all forms of cooperation with Russia.
