Young people will inevitably encounter various challenges in their growth. If they go astray, the most important thing is to get back on track.

Some young people started taking drugs when they were young and were eventually arrested for drug offenses.

After being sentenced to a drug rehabilitation institution, I decided to change it. After completing the treatment, I still chose to stay in the institution and continue to assist other young people with the same experience.

The Youth Association today held the 2021 awards ceremony of the "Restart" Youth Recognition Program to commend young people who have the courage to reform and rejuvenate. Eight young people have won awards this year.

One of the award winners, Adou, is 29 years old. When he was young, his mother was severely disciplined, so he often left home and met bad friends. He started taking drugs from 12 to 13 years old and was arrested for drug offenses at the age of 16.

He recalled that during his remand in court, his mother paid unrelenting visits, and the tearful scenes made him determined to give up drugs.

After completing a year of treatment in the drug rehabilitation center, Ah Dou decided to continue to stay in the home as a mentor. "I feel that I can walk with other young people because I have experienced all the things he has experienced."

In recent years, he believes that "it's time to go out and do something", so he set up a photography company and opened classes in different social welfare institutions and schools.

He said with a smile that his relationship with his family is improving and it will take time to re-establish it.

Another winner is 17-year-old Xiaoyu, whose parents divorced since childhood and had a poor relationship with her stepmother.

In order to attract the concern of her father, she ran away from home in the second half of the second, and was out on the streets all day. She would smoke and drink alcohol, and was almost influenced by her friends to commit illegal acts.

She said that her life was "hea full day," and she was too hot in the street.

After more than half a year, with the assistance of social workers, the relationship with his family gradually improved, and he said with a smile, "After being a street boy, I feel that the housing estate is really comfortable."

Xiaoyu has now been accepted by universities in Taiwan and plans to study makeup courses in Taiwan.

Jia Wen, 20, is also one of the winners. She was guilty of stealing stationery from a stationery store due to her greed and low self-esteem in junior high school.

She confessed that she was very worried at the time, and even more worried about setting a bad example to her sister, but in the police station, her mother did not blame, but comforted her, so she determined to change and finally accepted the superintendent's warning.

His mother said that she couldn't believe the incident at the time, "a girl who has never thought about it before will do it", and thinks that she has to find a way to help her, so she is not blamed.

Jiawen graduated with an associate degree this year, and she hopes to be admitted to Baptist University.
