District - Monday, Sunday or is it already Saturday?

The confusion around the opening of the hotels and holiday apartments was great - until the district office allowed the accommodation of holidaymakers from this Saturday.

However, that came too late for many hosts.

The Arabella Alpenhotel at Spitzingsee, for example, does not open until Monday.

"We already had to cancel the bookings for the weekend," explains managing director Peter Könekamp.

"If we do open now, we will make ourselves untrustworthy." Many vacation rental agents felt the same way - they therefore switched to Sunday.

There are exceptions, however: “We are flexible thanks to our online bookings.

We'll be accepting visitors again from Saturday, ”says Stephanie Sennhofer about her holiday apartments in Kreuth.

The Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT) also informed her about the upcoming opening early on.

The confusing rules could - so the hosts fear - put the brakes on the wanderlust of the guests: "We have fewer bookings than usual," reports Judith Winkler, who offers holiday apartments in Kreuth.

On the other hand, there is no uncertainty with the hygiene concepts - the hosts are already familiar with the processes from last year. The only new addition this year is the compulsory test. To make it as easy as possible for guests, some hosts offer on-site testing. “We got quick tests that we can carry out outdoors,” reports Franz Meyer from the Wendelstein guesthouse in Miesbach, for example.

However, it is unclear how to proceed with guests who test positive for the corona virus during their stay.

So far, the hoteliers only know that they have to report to the health department.

"The next steps will then be discussed with the office," says Katja Dörscherl, operations manager at Schliersbergalm Hotel und Gastronomie GmbH, of which Stefan Schimke is the managing partner.

The Schliersbergalm Hotel does not receive guests again until Monday.

The brokers of vacation rentals assume that they do not have to close completely in the event of a positive test.

“The vacationers are all separated from each other,” says Astrid Leitner from the Ehard-Hof in Schliersee.

Unlike hotel guests, the residents of holiday apartments do not meet at the buffet.

It is uncertain how things will go in the long term.

However, the majority of the operators are optimistic that the hotels and holiday apartments will be allowed to stay open at least during the summer.

“After all, we have more vaccinations and tests,” says Peter Könekamp.

"We didn't have any of that last summer."
