Traffic stopped today in the Bosphorus strait due to the stranding of an oil tanker following an accident that led to the loss of control over it.
Turkish media reported that due to a failure in control and guidance, a tanker loaded with oil began to drift towards the coast to stop at a distance of 300 meters from it, while Coast Guard locomotives arrived at the scene of the accident and prevented traffic on the Bosphorus in both directions, without providing additional details.
It is noteworthy that the Bosphorus Strait connects between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara and divides the Turkish city of Istanbul into two European and Asian parts, with a length of 30 kilometers and a width between 550 and 3000 meters.
