President Bashar Al-Assad today received a congratulatory cable from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on winning the presidential elections.
President Rouhani's telegram said: I extend my sincere congratulations and congratulations to you on the occasion of the success of the elections and your re-election as President of the Syrian Arab Republic. The Syrian people, with their broad participation and overwhelming vote, have taken an important step towards determining the future and prosperity of Syria.
President Rouhani added: I am completely confident that in this new stage of political life in Syria, we will witness an increase in cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
President Rouhani said: I ask the Almighty to your Excellency for health and success, and for the resisting Syrian people, happiness and pride.
