Homs and Daraa-Sana
Members of the fire brigade in Homs and Daraa countryside today extinguished a number of fires that broke out in separate areas.
Brigadier General Hassan Ammar, commander of the Homs Fire Brigade, stated that the regiment members put out three fires that broke out with weeds in the Al-Konfai site, south of Homs, and in the Al-Waer neighborhood and the suburb of Al-Majd in Homs city.
In turn, Brigadier General Ghayath Aqil, Director of the Civil Defense Branch, stated that the civil defense personnel were able to control a fire that broke out in a weed gathering near the Grain Corporation site on the Homs Al-Mosharafa road.
Two days ago, Homs firefighting teams put out a fire that affected agricultural crops in the Kurdish village of Dasniyeh in the western countryside of Homs.
And in Daraa, the firefighting and extinguishing regiment, in cooperation with the people, put out a fire that broke out between Dael and Aba in the countryside of Daraa.
Assistant Director of Agriculture, Eng. Bassam Al-Hasheesh, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the fire affected an area of 85 dunums planted with wheat, and it was extinguished before expanding his circle towards the neighboring crops, stressing that the collective work contributed to controlling the fire as quickly as required.
Hasheesh called on citizens to be careful and not to burn dry weeds, and to use tillage mechanisms to create fire lines to facilitate the control of fires if they occur.
The Daraa Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense yesterday put out seven fires that broke out in dry grass, trees, and the remnants of harvest in different areas of the governorate.
The commander of the Daraa Fire Brigade, Colonel Muhammad Mahameed, stated in a similar statement that the fires were distributed on trees and herbs in Naseeb customs, and dry herbs in Hamida Al-Taher garden in Daraa city, and herbs and trees in Al-Basil Park, as well as on herbs and trees in Al-Hamama roundabout in Daraa, and herbs in Dael next to the gas depot and herbs in Al-Kashef Al-Sharqi and the remains of a harvest fire in the Dael area.
