They immediately sounded the alarm and prevented worse things from happening: Police President Robert Kopp said thank you to the security guard in Wolfratshausen and Geretsried.

Wolfratshausen

- In the right place at the right time: Four members of the security guard (Siwa) were the first to provide help in a house fire in Obermarkt at the beginning of December last year.

For this behavior they were honored on Wednesday by Robert Kopp, chief of the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South.

It was a Wednesday at noon.

Gunther Perschon from Wolfratshauser Siwa was on patrol in downtown Wolfratshauser together with his Geretsried colleague Erik Eichner.

"Suddenly - we were about at the height of the town hall - we heard a bang, and immediately afterwards a window burst," remembers Perschon.

Thick smoke came from a commercial building.

The two volunteers did not hesitate: Eichner made the emergency call while Perschon ran into the building and began evacuating the house.

Sometimes "you have to use the command tone"

About a hundred meters away, at the intersection with Bahnhofstrasse, another mixed Siwa team from both cities was on duty.

When the radio message reached them asking for assistance, they too acted immediately.

Helmut Mazugo (Geretsried) and Andreas Thomas (Wolfratshausen) immediately began to keep Marktstrasse clear for the approaching rescue workers.

“It wasn't that easy at all,” says Mazugo, looking back.

"Because if, for example, a delivery person is standing on the road, everything is blocked." His colleague Thomas adds with a laugh: "Sometimes you really have to use the command tone - but in such a case there shouldn't be any discussions."

You are our additional eye. "

Andreas Czerweny, head of the Wolfratshausen police station, to the security watch

Police President Kopp describes the behavior of the four volunteers as "living moral courage". “A house fire is a highly dangerous event. And you didn't hesitate to help immediately. That makes me very proud. ”And:“ You made the Siwa known in the region from the start. You are the best advertising medium. ”Franz Schöttl and Andreas Czerweny, the head of the police station in Geretsried and Wolfratshausen, can only agree with this. "It is thanks to your quick reaction that no one was injured more seriously or even died." Both emphasize the good cooperation of the security guards. "We're growing together here - that's how we imagined it," Schöttl and Czerweny agree.

The acceptance of the security watch among the population is also increasing. Kopp: "They meet citizens at eye level, talk to them, listen - and show that they only want the coexistence to work." Czerweny emphasizes that the volunteers are a valuable addition to the police. "They are our additional eye." (Sh)
