PORTRAIT - The 39-year-old man, who attacked a policewoman on Friday and then kidnapped a resident before being shot by the gendarmes, was registered with the FSPRT, the file listing radicalized people.

The assailant who attacked a policewoman in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre with a knife on Friday morning, May 28, had long been known to the police. Of Senegalese origin, the 39-year-old man was born in Saint-Nazaire, the second in a family of eight children. His criminal record is numerous: 72 mentions in total, for facts ranging from the use of narcotics and theft with a weapon, to willful violence. Released from prison last March, he was sentenced by the North Assize Court to eight years of detention after having kidnapped, armed with a rifle, an elderly couple from whom he hoped to steal money. This small-time thug walked away with the modest sum of a hundred euros. He had started a trajectory of common law delinquent since his adolescence.

As

Ouest France

indicates

, his stays in prison were as repeated as they were chaotic. The daily specifies that signs of radicalization have been reported about him by his guards for at least two years. The man was trying in particular "

to make other prisoners hear very strong ideas about religion

", according to one of them, but would have also been caught talking about witchcraft, in the dark. of his cell. Excavations have revealed that he smuggled Islamic propaganda books into prison, and wrote handwritten pages himself about radical Islam. He would also have shouted insults against the disbelievers and the "

Kouffars

"

.

», And attacked, according to our information, officials of the prison administration as well as his fellow prisoners, on several occasions.

Registered in the file of radicalized people

These elements had led the prison intelligence services to register it on the File of alerts for the prevention and radicalization of a terrorist nature (FSPRT), a file created in March 2015 and which lists, according to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin , a little more than 8,000 individuals known for extreme positions and likely to threaten the security of the State. This file combines the various administrative information known on these people (place of residence, judicial or psychiatric history, but also possible links with other radicalized people). The people entered in this file are monitored by various services (depending on their estimated dangerousness), ranging from the DGSI to the police or the gendarmerie.Ndiaga Dieye, on the other hand, was not the subject of an S file, this famous mention in the file of wanted persons, which indicates more specific suspicions against an individual known for his desire to take action. .

In 2016, Ndiaga Dieye was also diagnosed with severe schizophrenia, from the time he began to report hearing voices and speaking to himself.

His former lawyer, Me Vincent de La Morandière, who defended him in several cases, told AFP “to

have seen a psychological degradation as the incarceration progresses.

"Even adding:" At

one point it became difficult to discuss with him

.

The Nantes public prosecutor clarified that after his release in March, “

socio-judicial monitoring was implemented, aimed at monitoring the individual under the authority of the judge responsible for the execution of sentences. This follow-up had two purposes: a social purpose which aimed to provide him with social support and help him find accommodation. There was a second purpose: an order for treatment, medical follow-up. We realized during his incarceration, especially the last, that he had serious psychiatric disorders ”.

Ndiaga Dieye seems to have, according to the prosecutor, scrupulously respected his obligations of reintegration and care by taking his treatment and by meeting the penitentiary service of integration and probation.
