Unterföhring - The first day of school after the Whitsun holidays will be exciting for more than 500 Unterföhring elementary school students, their Rector and Claudia Denzinger.
The entire primary school family is moving into a new school building with 16 large classrooms on the school campus on Mitterfeldallee.
The lunchtime care and the after-school care center also go into operation in new rooms.
The property management in the town hall has hired several moving companies to bring furniture and material from Bahnhofstrasse to Mitterfeldallee during the holidays.
Church blessing before the move
The new rooms of the school, lunchtime care and after-school care received the church's blessing before they moved in.
Mayor Andreas Kemmelmeyer did not want to do without this despite the pandemic.
The primary school is the soul of a community, it is in it that it is decided whether the children are doing well, whether they are interested in life, can tackle life openly and happily, the mayor stated in his short speech to a small group of invited guests.
Schools have always had great weight, including for the political community.
Pastor Carsten Klingenberg wanted the elementary school to be a good house so that everyday school life could be creative.

Primary school on Bahnhofstrasse is being renovated
The second elementary school became necessary because the number of pupils in the growing community with its family-friendly policy is steadily increasing and the 500 mark was broken in 2017/18.
Local politicians decided to build the second elementary school.
Because the space at the old location is exhausted: from 1964 to 2014, three buildings were built on Bahnhofstrasse.
The "blue and yellow" boxes now have to be renovated for fire protection reasons.
The entire school family is therefore moving to Mitterfeldallee until some of the students and teachers return to Bahnhofstrasse after the renovation.
The completion of the school campus would have been celebrated in Unterföhring on a large scale. The pandemic has not yet allowed that. Mayor Kemmelmeyer hopes "fervently" that "we can manage a big school party before the holidays."
