The shooting occurred early Sunday morning at the El Mula banquet hall in northwest Miami-Dade County, near Hialeah.

At least two people were killed and an estimated 20 to 25 people were injured in a shooting near an establishment in northwestern Miami-Dade County, near Hialeah, south Florida, according to police.

The shots broke out early Sunday morning at a group of people who were at a "scheduled event" at an establishment called El Mula Banquet Hall on 186th Street, west of Miami Gardens, according to a statement from authorities.

The banquet hall had been rented for a concert.

Three people got out of a truck and opened fire on the crowd outside, explained Police Director Alfredo

Freddy

 Ramírez III.

Authorities believe the shooting was planned.

Miami-Dade police cordon off the scene of the event.

"These are cold-blooded killers who fired indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice," Ramírez said in a tweet.

The Miami-Dade Fire Department found two people dead when they arrived at the scene and transported eight people to various local hospitals, the statement said, adding that 12 other victims went to the hospital on their own.

There were no detainees so far.

"This is a despicable act of gun violence, a cowardly act," Ramírez told the Miami Herald.
