BMW driver flees during a police check: Failure to wear a seat belt leads to a large drug discovery

Nuremberg - Police officers from the Nuremberg * -West police station noticed a BMW driver on Thursday afternoon around 11 a.m. who was not wearing a seat belt.

He drove into town on Leyher Strasse in his gray car.  

The officers wanted to stop the driver to warn him to put on the seat belt, but the 36-year-old attempted to escape.

The 36-year-old showed a very risky driving style and finally touched a street sign in Lehrberger Straße, as it says in the police report from the Central Franconia police headquarters *.

Then the man left his car and fled on foot.

The police officers followed the perpetrator and were able to catch him.

During the subsequent search of the car and the person, the officers found a large amount of marijuana and some chunks of hashish, which have now been seized.

The suspect had also apparently consumed the anesthetic before fleeing and was thus under the influence of drugs while driving his car.

The criminal police are now investigating suspected illicit drug trafficking.

The man was brought before the detention issue.

The arrest warrant was suspended subject to conditions.  

Road users and passers-by who were harmed or endangered in the risky attempt to escape by the 36-year-old are asked to report to the Nuremberg-West police station on 0911 / 6583-0.
