The Swiss Moto3 rider
Jason Dupasquier
, who suffered a terrible accident on Saturday in the qualifying session of the Italian Grand Prix,
died this Sunday at the age of 19
, announced the World Championship of speed motorcycling in a statement.
"Despite the efforts of the circuit's medical team and all those who took care of the Swiss rider afterwards, the hospital (Careggi, from Florence) announced that Dupasquier has unfortunately died," he said.
The hospital, for its part, confirmed "the beginning of the process of verifying brain death, due to brain injuries incompatible with its survival."
The young pilot was "subjected on Saturday night to thoracic surgery for a vascular injury," the hospital had indicated in the morning.
"Serious brain injuries (persisted) and (remained) in intensive care in a very serious condition," a spokesman had added then.
After a podium without celebrations in Moto2, it was decided to
schedule a minute of silence before the MotoGP race, the stellar one this weekend at Mugello
.
After knowing the death, the world of the motor did not take in showing his sadness by the news.

"My sincere condolences to Jason Dupasquier's family, friends and team. Ride in peace, Jason," former Spanish MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo wrote on Twitter.
"What sad news! All my prayers go to Jason and his family. Rest in peace, champion," said Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio Pérez.
Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr, also an F1 driver, also said he was "very sad" about what happened.
Dupasquier crashed between turns 9 and 10 of the Mugello circuit, in the final moments of qualifying on Saturday.
According to the television images after the fall and the statements of the other riders involved, the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki and the Spanish Jeremy Alcoba, was

After about forty minutes of intervention by the doctors on the scene, the Swiss, "polytraumatized and in serious condition" but "stable" was transferred by medical helicopter to the trauma center of the Careggi hospital.
Jason Dupasquier was the son of motocross rider and Supermotard Philippe Dupasquier.
After his start in Supermotard, he focused on speed tests on the circuit, going through all the steps, despite the fact that a serious injury to the left femur deprived him of the 2018 season.
Dupasquier made his debut at the Moto3 World Championship in 2020 in the colors of the German PrüstelGP team.
In his first season he did not get any points and finished 28th.
In 2021, after five races, he had scored 27 points and was 10th in the drivers' standings.
At the Mugello circuit this Sunday, where the races continued despite the news, numerous drivers wore stickers and paid tribute to the young Swiss.
The last rider who died during a motorcycle Grand Prix, before Dupasquier, had been the Spanish Luis Salom, in Moto2 at the 2016 Catalan Grand Prix.
